Dear Maricopa Unified Staff:

Per our previous letter on 3-25-20, Maricopa Unified School District has decided to extend its emergency school closures through at least Friday, May 1, 2020, to limit the community spread of COVID-19. This letter is to provide details of staffing needs for all staff members starting on April 14, 2020.

In order to meet the Governor’s orders list below, most staff members will need to report to work per this letter to support the ongoing needs of the food services, MOT campus, and offices. Any staff member that is unable to report to work per the schedule below needs to contact Dr. Meier at 661-578-0878 to discuss concerns and possible work options. All staff continues to be on full paid status.

  • Schools will continue to deliver high-quality educational opportunities to students, to the extent feasible, through distance learning and/or independent study.
  • Schools will provide meals in non-congregate settings.
  • Schools will arrange for, to the extent practicable, supervision for students during ordinary school hours.
  • Schools will continue to pay employees.

Administrative/Counseling Staff: Daily M-F (8:00a-2:00p) / Alternate Days as possible

Report to work each day with modified days and hours as possible.

Teaching Staff: Daily from Home Office with some on-campus support as listed below:

6th-12th Grades: All M.S./H.S. teachers will report to campus on Tuesday, April 14th from 7:30-3:00 to support family Computer-Library and Assignment pick up from classrooms meeting with six-feet social distancing, then work from home office daily to meet with students via technology from April 15th-May 1st.

 

TK-5th Grades: All Elementary teachers will report to campus on Wednesday, April 15th from 7:30a-3:00p to support family packet turn-in & pick-up from classrooms with six-feet social distancing, then work from home office daily to meet with students via phone/technology from April 16th-May 1st.

3rd -5th Grade Teachers will report again on Monday, April 20th from 7:30a – 3:00p to support family Computer pick-up -Library and online assignments from classrooms meeting with 6th feet social distancing, then work from home office daily to meet with students via technology.

TK-2nd Grade Teachers will report again on Monday, April 27th from 7:30a – 3:00p to support family Computer pick-up-Library and online assignments from classrooms meeting with six-feet social distancing, then work from home office daily to meet with students via technology.

As of today’s direction from the Governor, the plan moving forward will be for All Staff to return to their normal workdays and hours on-campus on Monday, May 4, 2020, to meet with administrators, receive professional development, and prepare classrooms for the return of students the following day. The first day back at school for students may be Tuesday, May 5, 2020. This is a dynamic situation where information and circumstances can change quickly.
