NOTICE: The Maricopa Unified School District is excited for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year and is eager to welcome all students back on campus for the start of the new school year beginning Monday, August 9, 2021. If you have not registered your student(s) for Kindergarten or if you have any new student(s) to Maricopa schools, please contact the school office quickly. For all incoming 7th graders, proof of TDAP booster must be on file prior to students starting school. Updated TDAP vaccination records can be dropped off at the school office from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm through August 6th.
We do understand that while we are opening the school year with full-day, in-person instruction, some parents may not feel comfortable sending students back for in-person instruction. In coordination and compliance with new guidelines, for the 2021-2022 school year only, students whose parents deem to be medically at risk to return will be eligible for long-term independent study. Please know that the requirements and organization of this program will be different from the Distance Learning program from the 2020-2021 school year. We will hold two parent informational meetings on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, one at 9:00 am and for those that cannot attend the morning meeting, we will hold another meeting at 3:00 pm. These meetings will explain how long-term independent study will operate and define the changes from the previously utilized Distance Learning program. Students will have specific criteria to meet in order to be successful in the program. An Independent Study Registration and Agreement form MUST be completed prior to the start of school for participation. You may find the related forms and information on the district website at www.maricopaschools.org
